Three of our students were selected to travel to Chicago and participate in a National Seminario hosted by Ravinia Music Festival, in partnership with the Chicago Philharmonic and educational leadership and professional development workshops hosted by El Sistema USA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you feel about the music that you had to learn how to play at Ravinia?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

J<\/strong>amie: <\/strong>Music kept you off your seat and it was entertaining. When I first got the music I was stressed, but I got to practice it and learn it in a week. It\u2019s about how much time you have to practice and how much you want to learn. It helped a lot to practice during sectionals and we were coached by professional musicians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have any advice for students who may want to travel for a summer camp? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Violet: <\/strong>This experience has been one of the experiences where I have been the most inspired by music. It was a great experience to learn from students from all over the country. I made so many new friends. I was able to help them and they were able to help me. It was really about the kids. The kids led it and were comfortable with other people. It was perfect, I loved it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the one area where you grew the most in?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valeria:<\/strong> The one area where I grew the most, thanks to Ravinia, is opening up to others. My stand partner was the first one to talk to me and I was really shy because I didn\u2019t know what to say. Then I saw another friend that went to YOLA (Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles) with me last year, who plays cello, and we started talking. Some of the students in my sectional spoke in Spanish and would ask me if I had rosin and I said \u2018yes, I do\u2019 and I said it in Spanish. It was nice to have a group of friends that speak the same language that you talk at home. I would recommend Ravinia to everyone because it was a great experience, both of the conductors were really kind. They really enjoyed Ravinia, they were always smiling and happy to be there. More INTEMPO students should go to Ravinia to meet more people, open up more, and learn new techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tres de nuestros estudiantes fueron seleccionadas para viajar a Chicago y participar en un Seminario Nacional organizado por el Festival de M\u00fasica Ravinia, en asociaci\u00f3n con la Filarm\u00f3nica de Chicago y talleres de desarrollo profesional y liderazgo educativo organizados por El Sistema USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo te sentiste con la m\u00fasica que tuviste que aprender a tocar en Ravinia?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamie:<\/strong>\u00a0La m\u00fasica te mantuvo fuera de tu asiento y fue entretenida. Cuando escuch\u00e9 la m\u00fasica por primera vez estaba estresada, pero pude practicar y aprender en una semana. Se trata de cu\u00e1nto tiempo tienes para practicar y cu\u00e1nto quieres aprender. Nos ayud\u00f3 mucho practicar durante los seccionales y fuimos entrenados por m\u00fasicos profesionales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfTienes alg\u00fan consejo para los estudiantes que quieran viajar para un campamento de verano?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Violet:<\/strong> Esta experiencia ha sido una de las experiencias en las que m\u00e1s me ha inspirado la m\u00fasica. Fue una gran experiencia aprender de estudiantes de todo el pa\u00eds. Hice muchos nuevos amigos. Pude ayudarlos y ellos pudieron ayudarme. Realmente se trataba de los ni\u00f1os. Los ni\u00f1os lo dirigieron y se sintieron c\u00f3modos con otras personas. Fue perfecto, me encant\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfCu\u00e1l es la \u00e1rea en la que m\u00e1s\u00a0creciste?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valeria:<\/strong>\u00a0La\u00a0\u00e1rea en la que m\u00e1s crec\u00ed, gracias a Ravinia, es en abrirme a los dem\u00e1s. Mi compa\u00f1ero de atril fue el primero en hablar conmigo y yo estaba muy t\u00edmida porque no sab\u00eda qu\u00e9 decir. Luego vi a otro amigo que fue conmigo a YOLA (Orquesta Juvenil de Los \u00c1ngeles) el a\u00f1o pasado, que toca el violonchelo, y empezamos a hablar. Algunos de los estudiantes de mi secci\u00f3n hablaban en espa\u00f1ol y me preguntaban si ten\u00eda resina y yo dije \u201cs\u00ed, tengo\u201d y lo dije en espa\u00f1ol. Fue agradable tener un grupo de amigos que hablan el mismo idioma que uno habla en casa.\u00a0Recomendar\u00eda Ravinia a todo el mundo porque fue una gran experiencia.\u00a0 Ambos directores fueron muy amables, realmente disfrutaron de Ravinia, siempre estaban sonriendo y felices de estar all\u00ed.
