We are incredibly proud of our three students Gael, Sam, and Violet, who were selected to travel to Chicago to perform in the National Seminario hosted by Ravinia Festival from July 7-11. Their dedication and talent have earned them this fantastic opportunity, and we are so proud to see them shine on such a prominent stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the National Seminario Ravinia? Was this your first time participating? What motivated you to apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gael:<\/strong> The Ravinia National Seminario is a big music program with people from all around the world including Mexico, Canada, Greece, and Sweden coming to play one big concert. This was my first time participating. What encouraged me to apply was the idea of playing in a big group with many people from around the world. Just thinking of that opportunity made me apply because I really like meeting new people and playing new music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet: <\/strong>At the Ravinia Festival, you play music together while working with famous conductors like Marin Alsop. <\/strong>This was my second year participating and I loved comparing the two years and watching how they took the students\u2019 feedback from last year and made things even better this year! I was nominated by my music group to attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Can you describe a typical day at the camp? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet<\/strong>: A typical day was eating breakfast at the campus, having sectionals at the campus with mentors from a well known orchestra, lunch at the campus, some sort of fun activity (like a social or a field trip), early dinner, then heading to Ravinia in the evening to practice with the conductors and the full orchestra. After practice we went back to the dorms for bedtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What was the most valuable lesson you learned about yourself as a musician during your time at Ravinia?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gael<\/strong>: The most valuable lesson I learned about myself as a musician during my time at Ravinia was that if you think the music is impossible to learn, keep on practicing because sooner or later you\u2019ll see that it is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet:<\/strong> The most valuable lesson I learned at Ravinia was learning from my peers and new conductors I’ve never worked with before. It is life changing since you’re watching and learning how people do things in different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n How did the instructors, mentors, and peers at Ravinia contribute to your growth as a musician?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gael:<\/strong> The instructors, mentors, and peers helped me grow as a musician by providing me with the help I needed in the music, and with that help I managed to help my peers who also needed help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet<\/strong>: The instructors, mentors, and peers all helped me grow as a musician by learning and watching how they fix errors or make certain parts of the pieces even better through specific techniques or skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What advice would you give to other young musicians considering attending Ravinia or a similar music program?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gael:<\/strong> The advice I would give to another young musician considering attending Ravinia or a similar music program would be to just have fun with the music, make new friends and pay attention to your mentors, conductor, and peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet:<\/strong> I would tell the musicians considering attending Ravinia or a similar music program to absolutely go for it! When I went last year for the first time, my music world changed so much by watching and learning how different people from different places all join together and make music in different ways. Esta fue mi primera vez participando. Lo que me motiv\u00f3 a aplicar fue la idea de tocar en un grupo grande con muchas personas de todo el mundo. Fui nominada por mi grupo de m\u00fasica para asistir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00bfPuedes describir un d\u00eda t\u00edpico en el campamento? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet:<\/strong> Un d\u00eda t\u00edpico era desayunar en el campus, tener ensayos de seccionales en el campus con mentores de una conocida orquesta, almorzar en el campus, alg\u00fan tipo de actividad divertida (algo social o una excursi\u00f3n), cenar temprano, y luego dirigirse a Ravinia por la tarde para practicar con los directores y la orquesta completa. Te cambia la vida porque est\u00e1s observando y aprendiendo c\u00f3mo las personas hacen las cosas de diferentes maneras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00bfC\u00f3mo contribuyeron los instructores, mentores y compa\u00f1eros en Ravinia a tu crecimiento como m\u00fasico?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gael:<\/strong> Los instructores, mentores y compa\u00f1eros me ayudaron a crecer como m\u00fasico proporcion\u00e1ndome la ayuda que necesitaba en la m\u00fasica, y con esa ayuda logr\u00e9 ayudar a mis compa\u00f1eros que tambi\u00e9n la necesitaban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet:<\/strong> Los instructores, mentores y compa\u00f1eros me ayudaron a crecer como m\u00fasico aprendiendo y observando c\u00f3mo corrigen errores o hacen ciertas partes de las piezas a\u00fan mejores a trav\u00e9s de t\u00e9cnicas o habilidades espec\u00edficas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00bfQu\u00e9 consejo dar\u00edas a otros j\u00f3venes m\u00fasicos que est\u00e1n considerando asistir a Ravinia o a un programa similar de m\u00fasica?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gael:<\/strong> El consejo que dar\u00eda a otro joven m\u00fasico ser\u00eda simplemente divertirse con la m\u00fasica, hacer nuevos amigos y prestar atenci\u00f3n a tus mentores, director y compa\u00f1eros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Violet:<\/strong> Les dir\u00eda a los m\u00fasicos que consideran asistir a Ravinia o a un programa de m\u00fasica similar que \u00a1absolutamente lo hagan! Cuando fui el a\u00f1o pasado por primera vez, mi mundo musical cambi\u00f3 mucho al ver y aprender c\u00f3mo personas diferentes de lugares diferentes se unen y hacen m\u00fasica de diferentes maneras.
