I loved Dresden and how the city is full of life and beautiful structures. I enjoyed going on tours and going to museums as we learned a lot about German music history and culture. Our tour guide, Regina, was very kind and helped us navigate Germany, without her it would have been very hard. The food was exquisite and the hotels even better. The European currency, the euro, caught my attention since it looks like Monopoly money; thankfully I kept some as souvenirs.

How did the trip impact your musical journey and personal growth?

Playing Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten was fun and the rehearsals every Saturday before the trip were very helpful. This trip definitely got me closer to my cello and inspired me to do even better. I was able to learn about another culture, and I definitely felt more independent which is very essential as I am going to college in the fall. I appreciate the time and dedication the people at GCTYO took to plan the trip as it was very well organized and I know the other kids who participated had a fun time as well.

What advice would you give to other young musicians dreaming of similar opportunities?

I would recommend people not miss any opportunity that comes their way because an opportunity that is lost is lost forever, and you do not know what could have happened if you had taken that chance.
