Adriana Molina
Adriana immigrated when she was a child with her family to Stamford from Colombia. She has been a member of the police force for about two decades and runs the department’s behavioral health unit. She was a 911 dispatcher before she became an officer in her late 30s. She then worked as a special victims unit investigator. Adriana was promoted to sergeant about two years ago and soon after was tapped to lead the department’s new behavioral health unit. The unit responds to mental health cases, which have been on the rise.
She was the Stamford Police Association’s officer of the year for 2015, and Latinos United for Professional Advancement once named her one of the 50 most influential Latinos in the state. Adriana was honored again this year when Stamford awarded her as the “Citizen of the Year Award.” She is believed to be the first police officer to be named the citizen of the year — an honor that dates back to the 1940s. Adriana also recently completed her studies for a nursing degree.
Adriana is a mother of three children and a grandmother, and she lives in Stamford.
