INTEMPO School Programs

Founded in 2011, INTEMPO’s mission is to make classical and intercultural music relevant, accessible and inclusive and to connect the dots between music education and socioemotional and intellectual development for children. INTEMPO is known for its intercultural concerts and outreach events, and provides high-quality classical and intercultural music education to over 700 children annually through in-school and afterschool programs. We are located in Stamford, Connecticut and our music school students are predominantly from immigrant backgrounds.

NEW this year, INTEMPO is launching an in-school assembly program to perform for and educate students around the Hispanic Heritage of music. Provide your school with an educational, engaging, and fun program which can seamlessly tie into the music, language or social studies curriculum and can be adapted for all ages. Introduce the sounds, instruments and history of Hispanic music through a 45 minute assembly program.

Themes and topics include:

● Guatemala and the Central American marimba
● Venezuelan plains and South American traditions
● Peruvian and Ecuadorian aboriginal rituals
● Caribbean soundscapes and modern rhythms
● Connections to global perspectives through Latino migrant storytelling through music

All presentations will be tailored to be age-appropriate and tied to school curriculum and other Hispanic Heritage Month awareness and representation efforts.
