Carlos Velásquez

Guitar Instructor

Born and raised in Palmira, Colombia. Carlos Velasquez began to study music early in the ’90s. After moving to the United States, he decided to continue his studies in the world of fines arts at the University of Bridgeport, earning a degree in Music Education with an emphasis in jazz studies under the tutelage of Jeffry Johnson, Chris Coogan, Chris Morrison, and Kurt Cobble, four pioneers in New York City, Westchester, and Fairfield County area. Carlos also took private guitar and music composition lessons with Dan Arcamone and private class percussion/drumming education with (Vic Firth Artist) Jeff Jones. As an accomplished educator, teacher, composer, and arranger, Carlos has taught in elementary, secondary, private, and public schools. Not just an accomplished performer, Carlos is also a skilled instructor and has been teaching young students for over 10 years. Carlos Velasquez also holds a Master’s in Education from Concordia University in Educational Leadership, and currently serves as a Spanish and Social Studies teacher for K-8 in a private school in Stamford, CT. Besides teaching, Carlos loves hanging out with his wife (Yohanna Escamilla) and his two sons (Carlos junior and Camilo), and he also specializes in performing as a soloist on the guitar for private events and special occasions.
