Partnership Programs

School Based Partnerships

- Enrichment Programs

INTEMPO offers a school-based introductory program, designed to fit the students’ age, interests, and abilities. Using cross-cultural materials, this program enriches the students’ music experience and inspires them to further pursue their music education and artistic expressions.

- New Arrivals Program

Our program for newly arrived students focuses on helping to close the achievement gap among children immigrating to this country. The New Arrivals program reaches hundreds of students in Stamford Public Schools, allowing us to advance the educational equity of underserved children from immigrant backgrounds—a central tenet of our mission. Instruction builds music skills, using song and ear training to facilitate English language acquisition. It also facilitates pro-social behavior and skills, socioemotional growth, community connection and participation, and performance abilities. It uses research-based curriculum that is aligned with the curriculum used by the schools’ ELL teachers, to help children become confident English speakers and engaged students.

- Assemblies and Workshops

INTEMPO offers programs for entire school communities or smaller groups, or even individual classes. Our teaching artists can perform or provide interactive activities. These programs educate youth about the Hispanic heritage of music, provide multilingual enrichment in STEAM activities, and more, all in a fun and engaging program. We have done these assemblies and classes throughout Fairfield County including schools in Greenwich, Stamford, and Westport.

The Norwalk Art Space

We provide instrument lessons at The Norwalk Art Space. Now in its third year, this partnership has allowed us to teach ukulele, guitar, percussion, and choir to students.

Our newest program at the Norwalk Art Space is a partnership with the Norwalk Youth Symphony, where we are teaching beginner and intermediate lessons to students on orchestral string instruments. Our goal for this program is to prepare students to join the Norwalk Youth Symphony’s ensembles.

Early Learning

INTEMPO provides programming to many preschools and licensed in-home daycares. These programs provide intercultural early learning experiences that are both fun while preparing children for kindergarten.

Summer Learning

We support other organizations with programs similar to the above ones during the summer as well! We have worked with Stamford Public Schools, Children’s Learning Center, Horizons at CT State Norwalk and more in this capacity.

We make music education relevant, inclusive and accessible through classical and intercultural instruments and repertoire and connect the dots between music and the overall development of children.
