Varun Awasthi

Varun graduated in May 2022 from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where he was honored as a James Scholar (awarded to the top 10% of his class), and served as the Vice President of the Finance Academy. He is currently working at Synchrony Financial in Stamford in Credit Analytics (for BLP Health; Wellness, the BLP Loss Mitigation Team, and the BLP Intern - Amazon Team).

This summer, Varun focused on Financial Literacy with the Synchrony Skills Academy and Black+ Network by hosting literacy sessions for high school students attending the Academy, as well as Financial Literacy Sessions for the Women's Network, New Hires and for Girls Who Code. In addition to these experiences, Varun also worked for the Stamford Partnership in the Community Service Program. He demonstrated his technical skills by revamping and implementing fixes to the website, analyzing website trends using Google Analytics, and creating a new slide template to assist the team in creating presentations for donors and grant officers. He also assisted in the planning of the Stamford Partnership Annual Gala, and continues to be involved with the Stamford Partnership.

Varun speaks fluent Hindi and lives in Stamford.
