Jim Venetos is a Managing Director and Financial Advisor with J.P. Morgan Securities, a wealth management division of J.P. Morgan, and was recently recognized by Forbes as a “Best-In-State Wealth Advisor.” His significant industry experience offers sophisticated strategies and customized wealth management services for high-net-worth individuals and their families. Before joining J.P. Morgan Securities in 2006, Jim was a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Smith Barney. He began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert.
Jim was raised in Brooklyn, and entered Cornell University at the age of 16 on a full academic scholarship. Jim holds a B.S. from the college’s School of Hotel Administration. He also earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. Jim served in the Army as a First Lieutenant during the Vietnam War, and is the founder of the Museum of the United States Army in Washington, D.C. He is also involved with The U.S. Army Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Project.
Additionally, Jim is a former board member of the Newport Music Festival and the King School in Stamford, Connecticut. He continues to participate in a variety of worthy causes including The Blanton-Peale Institute and Counseling Center (an organization that provides affordable and holistic mental health care to people who represent the diversity of New York City), and Person-to-Person, a local emergency assistance organization. Jim speaks Greek and German and is conversant in Italian and Spanish. He leads an active lifestyle and enjoys travel and music of all genres. He is married with three grown children, and lives in Darien.
